Somalia: After 2 days of fighting, armed hostages were killed, 21 people were killed

Mogadishu: Security forces in Somalia’s capital killed gunmen who seized guests at the Hyatt Hotel in a two-day standoff.

According to international news agencies, armed men entered the hotel by detonating a car bomb and took the guests, including the staff, hostage. After which the encounter between the security forces and the armed men continued for 2 days, which finally resulted in the death of the armed hostages and the seizure of the hotel.

According to the military spokesman, 21 people were killed and 117 were injured in the encounter that lasted for 2 days, while 106 people were safely evacuated from the hotel. The process of identifying the bodies is going on, so far it is not clear how many of the attackers were killed.
