Saad Rafiq’s announcement of reduction in fares of Pakistan Railways and PIA

Federal Minister for Railways and Aviation Khawaja Muhammad Saad Rafiq has announced a 10% discount on the fares of economy class of Pakistan Railways and all domestic flights of PIA after the reduction in the prices of petroleum products. The reduction will be applied from tomorrow (Sunday). In his video statement released on Twitter on Saturday, Khawaja Muhammad Saad Rafiq said that following the footsteps of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif after the reduction in the prices of petroleum products, Pakistan Railways and Pakistan International Airlines have extended this benefit to their passengers. He said that the fares are being reduced by 10% on all flights of both the economy class of Pakistan Railways and domestic classes of PAA. This discount will be applicable for the next 30 days. Khawaja Saad Rafiq said that it should be noted that 94% passengers travel in economy class in railways while 90% passengers travel in economy class in PIA. The fare reduction notification will be issued tomorrow (Sunday). Following our move, the Civil Aviation Authority will also direct private airlines to reduce their fares. We are sure that the provincial governments will also take measures to reduce their fares by contacting the transporters.
