LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has annulled the election of Hamza Shahbaz as Punjab Chief Minister and reinstated Usman Bazdar as acting Chief Minister. Petitions were filed against the Punjab election which were approved by the Lahore High Court. The Lahore High Court, while ruling on the petition against Hamza Shahbaz, declared his election as Punjab Chief Minister null and void. The decision was taken by a five-member larger bench headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan on the appeal of PTI and others by a four-to-one majority.
If this order is like this then Hamza Shahbaz will not be the Chief Minister of Punjab and at the same time his Punjab Cabinet will also be dissolved. However, the matter will be clarified after the detailed decision of the court comes to light.
Speaking outside the court after the verdict, the lawyers said that when the election will be annulled and the Chief Minister will be re-elected, Hamza Shahbaz will not be the Chief Minister under this decision. Legal experts say that Hamza Shahbaz Now the Chief Minister of Punjab is no more and at the same time his cabinet has been dissolved.
Therefore, the election for the new Chief Minister of Punjab will be held again. The Lahore High Court issued a written decision on the petitions. The court annulled the decision of Hamza Shahbaz to take oath on April 16. The court also quashed the Deputy Speaker’s letter regarding the election of the governor.
LHR court’s decision consists of eight pages in which the court also quashed the notification of the election of Hamza Shahbaz as the Chief Minister.
At the same time, the court restored Usman Bazdar to the post of Chief Minister and declared the notification to stop Usman Bazdar from work null and void. The court decision said that the decisions of Hamza Shahbaz and his cabinet should be ineffective from today. Yes, he is no longer the Chief Minister of Punjab and his cabinet has also been dissolved.
The Details of Lahore High Court Decision
As the re-election of the Chief Minister will be held tomorrow at 4 pm in which it will be decided who will be the new Chief Minister. However, all the steps taken by Hamza Shahbaz and the cabinet from April 30 to date in the interest of the province and the public will not have any effect. All the institutions should abide by the court orders. Tomorrow’s meeting will not be adjourned without completing the process of selection of the Chief Minister. The Governor Punjab will take oath from the newly elected Chief Minister without any hesitation.
The Governor will not give his opinion on the conduct of the election. The Governor will be bound to take oath from the election process till 11 am the next day. Confidence is seen despite the verdict. PML-N claims that our numbers are complete and tomorrow Hamza Shahbaz will be elected Punjab Chief Minister again.
