400-year-old gold coins found during excavations in kitchen auctioned for crores
Yorkshire: 264 400-year-old gold coins found by a British couple while renovating their kitchen sold at auction for Rs 6.32 lakh.
According to the international news agency, an auction ceremony of 264 gold coins of 400 years old was held in Great Britain, during which one person bought these coins for 250 thousand pounds, that is, 63.2 million and 9 thousand Pakistani rupees.
The coins were found locked in a box by a British couple in 2019 while excavating the kitchen floor of a home when they noticed a cable wire under the floor during a kitchen renovation. Further excavations revealed a box under the floor containing 264 gold coins dating from 1610 to 1727, dating from the reigns of James I and Charles I and belonging to a wealthy and influential merchant family. .
The British couple who found the gold coins at their home, who asked not to be identified, were auctioned off by a company that has been looking after the coins since 2019.
